On World Food Day, Himani Shivpuri and Yogesh Tripathi share their favourite local cuisine and food destinations in Prayagraj

There is so much diversity in Indian cuisines, with each region having its distinctive culinary characteristics and numerous traditional dishes. Culinary diversity is one of India's most important treasures. On World Food Day, &TV artists, Yogesh Tripathi, Happu Singh and Himani Shivpuri, Katori Amma from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan goes on Prayagraj (formerly known as Allahabad) food trail to share her favourite local cuisine and eateries in the city. Says, Himani Ji,"Apart from being famous for the confluence of the Yamuna, Ganga and Saraswati rivers, and the grand melas, the city is also known for its fantastic variety of food, especially the street food. My personal favourites are special TamatarChaat, Aloo Tikki, Khasta Kachori, Dahi-SonthkeBatashe, PapdiChaat and the Gol Gappe. There are so many places to relish those chaats at Civil Lines, NetramMulchand& Sons, Hari Ram, and Sons to Nirala Ki Chaat at Loknath. It would not be wrong to call this city a paradise for the chaat lovers. Then there are samosas, especially the Chhole Samosas”. Adding to this, Yogesh Tripathi says, “For all of those who love the Indian sweets, they must visit Sohabatiya Bagh; the city has the best Gulab Jamuns famously called DehatikeRasagulle, MakkhanMalai, Imarti and of course the Paan! Finally, the Churmura, which is an authentic local snack. All I can say is that Yahan Ki Khane Ka Mazaa Hi KuchAlag Hai. TohPrayagrajZaroorAayeAurYahan Ki Khane Ki KhoobLuftUthaye. On this World Food Day, my only request to everyone is not to waste food and feed the hungry."

So, if you have not tried these local cuisines in Prayagraj yet, then you are truly missing something!
